New Delhi, April 19 (). The Supreme Court Collegium appointed Orissa High Court Chief Justice S. On Wednesday, it withdrew its earlier recommendation to transfer Muralidhar to the Madras High Court.
Chief Justice D.Y. In a statement uploaded on the website of the apex court, the Collegium headed by Chandrachud said, the Collegium decided to transfer Dr Justice S Muralidhar, Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court to the Madras High Court on 28 September 2022. The recommendation is pending with the government. Dr. Justice Muralidhar is now leaving office on 7th August 2023 with less than 4 months to go.
In view of this delay, to facilitate the appointment of a permanent Chief Justice in the Madras High Court, Dr. Justice S. The motion recommending Muralidhar’s transfer is recalled, Justice S.V. Gangapurwala is appointed as the High Court as its Chief Justice. The High Court has been without a permanent Chief Justice for more than 6 months.
