While returning from college in New Delhi, Suraj met with an accident at a railway station on January 29, 2017 and lost both his legs above the knee and his right arm just below the elbow. This made him bedridden and completely dependent on family members for his daily routine.

The accident not only took away his ability to walk and write, but also pushed him into depression. His family members said that this was the darkest phase for him. But Suraj knew that hard work was the only hope for him to shine again.

Suraj graduated and is now pursuing MA in Russian language from Jawaharlal Nehru University. This gave him a new ray of hope, but Suraj decided that he would shine even more.
