Patna: The Prime Minister Surya Ghar Yojana is gaining traction nationwide as the government promotes affordable and clean energy options for households. The Electricity Department is effectively implementing the scheme at the local level to assist families facing escalating electricity bills. Officials indicate that solar energy serves as a more economical alternative and is vital for alleviating the strain on conventional power sources. Junior Electrical Engineer Sanjeev Kumar noted that this initiative by the Central Government motivates individuals to install rooftop solar panels. Consumers interested in the program can apply online without cumbersome paperwork, ensuring accessibility for all.
He emphasized that the primary goal of the scheme is to reduce reliance on traditional electricity sources and transition towards renewable options that foster a cleaner environment. Solar panels are particularly beneficial for households with higher electricity consumption. Once installed, they empower families to produce energy directly from sunlight, decreasing monthly costs and providing long-term advantages. Assistant Electrical Engineer Sanjay Kumar explained that a 3-kilowatt solar panel installation can produce approximately 300 units of electricity monthly, potentially saving a family nearly Rs 15,000 annually. The initiative is anticipated to offer significant relief to households with monthly electricity expenses between Rs 1,600 and Rs 2,000.
Officials are urging consumers to fully leverage the program and support the shift to clean, efficient, and sustainable energy. The Electricity Department has called on the public to participate extensively, enabling more families to achieve energy self-sufficiency and accelerating the nation’s progress in solar energy adoption.
