Chennai, May 21 (). Bharatiya Janata Party President in Tamil Nadu K. A delegation of BJP leaders led by Annamalai met Governor RN Ravi on Sunday. He has demanded the removal of State Excise Minister Senthil Balaji from the cabinet.
Annamalai claimed that ever since the Stalin government assumed power in May 2021, there has been a steady rise in drug and liquor-related cases.
Annamalai said, the state government had recently claimed in a policy note that there has been no tragedy in the state for the last 14 years. However, the recent liquor tragedies in Villupuram and Chengalpattu districts that claimed 22 lives shows the failure of the government to stop the sale of illicit liquor in the state.
The BJP leader claimed that the man arrested in Chengalpattu for selling spurious liquor is the brother of DMK leader Maravoor Raja. The DMK leader was always seen with DMK Minority Affairs Minister Gingee Mastan.
He further said that the priorities of the DMK government are wrong. The government cannot get away with giving compensation to hide its failures.
They also demanded the removal of state Minority Affairs Minister Gingee Mastan for failing to discharge her duties.
Annamalai also alleged that Balaji was involved in a major job scam and the Tamil Nadu Police is probing the case against him.
The BJP leader said he feared that the minister might misuse his official position to undermine the process of investigation.
