Kolkata, April 27 (). A special PMLA court on Thursday extended till June 19 the judicial custody of expelled Trinamool Congress leader Kuntal Ghosh, who is in custody for his alleged involvement in the multi-crore teacher recruitment scam in West Bengal.
During the hearing, the ED’s counsel refuted the allegations made by Ghosh that the central agencies were acting as mouthpieces of the BJP.
ED’s counsel Firoz Edulji argued in the court, “We are not mouthpieces of anyone.” We do not have political views during the investigation. We are determined to track only those involved in corruption. Meanwhile, Ghosh complained that the CBI did not interrogate him inside the jail in the presence of his lawyer as directed by the court.
He alleged that when his lawyer was informed about the questioning by the CBI at 3.56 pm, the grilling started at 4:05 pm. Ghosh claimed, so my lawyer could not reach in time.
However, Ghosh’s counsel did not move the bail plea on behalf of his client on Thursday. Recently, Ghosh had also alleged that ED and CBI officials were pressurizing him to name Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee in the recruitment scam.
