Patna: A new family conflict involving RJD chief Lalu Prasad has sparked political unrest in Bihar, following serious accusations made by his daughter Rohini Acharya against her relatives. The issue has transcended party affiliations, eliciting strong reactions from officials in the ruling Janata Dal (United). On Monday, JD(U) chief spokesperson Neeraj Kumar stated that Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the former deputy chief minister and Lalu’s son, is inflicting “mental agony” on his sick father.
“Rohini Acharya is not merely Lalu’s daughter; she represents the daughter of all Bihar,” he remarked, noting that the public display of the familial dispute has become “a matter of concern.” Kumar recalled that Rohini had donated a kidney to her father in 2022 and questioned whether Lalu Prasad is now being “politically confined.” He emphasized that if such a daughter is suffering, it should not be taken lightly. Additionally, he mentioned a recent video of Rohini where individuals were seen touching her feet, indicating unrest within family circles. “Lalu and Rabri seem helpless today,” he continued.
Criticizing Tejashwi, the JD(U) leader claimed that those with serious criminal allegations have become part of his close circle, stating, “This is why the public has taught RJD a lesson,” alluding to the party’s recent electoral defeats. JD(U) MLA from Kesaria, Shalini Mishra, also contributed her perspective, urging Tejashwi to “initiate the Mai-Behin Samman Yojana from his home” before discussing leadership in Bihar. She questioned how he could address governance if he struggles to manage his own family, labeling the dispute as “unfortunate” and expressing surprise at the discord within the Lalu Yadav family.
