Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD leader, criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday for his use of the term ‘katta’ during a recent election rally in Bihar. Yadav expressed that he had never heard a Prime Minister use such language before, indicating that it reflects Modi’s mindset. Modi had claimed that the Congress party only accepted Yadav as the chief ministerial candidate for the INDIA alliance after being pressured, likening the situation to a gun being held to their heads. In a statement to reporters, Yadav remarked that while Modi discusses advanced technology and industries in Gujarat, he resorts to discussing weapons when addressing Bihar.
Modi made this comparison at rallies in Bhojpur and Nawada districts, where he criticized the RJD for its alleged use of intimidation and its difficult relationships with coalition partners. Modi asserted that Congress was reluctant to name the RJD’s candidate for chief minister, suggesting that the RJD had to apply pressure to secure this position. He described the political environment in Bihar as one influenced by ‘jungle raj,’ implying that such tactics are detrimental to the state. The Bihar assembly elections are scheduled for November 6 and 11, with the vote counting set for November 14.
