Patna: Tejashwi Yadav, a leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has suggested that a Muslim Deputy Chief Minister could be appointed if the Mahagathbandhan succeeds in forming the next government in Bihar, citing a significant lack of trust in the current NDA administration. He asserted that the residents of Bihar are prepared for change and emphasized the unity of the Opposition alliance, contrasting it with the NDA, which has yet to announce a chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections set for November 6 and 11, with results due on November 14. Tejashwi noted the cohesion of the Mahagathbandhan, which includes seven parties such as the RJD and Congress.
He rejected claims of uncertainty regarding his candidacy, highlighting that the NDA has not revealed its CM candidate, with Amit Shah indicating that MLAs would make that decision post-results. Tejashwi remarked that the alliance partners, including Congress, have consistently supported him, recalling his earlier position as chairperson of the Mahagathbandhan coordination committee in 2020. Regarding representation, Tejashwi mentioned the potential for multiple Deputy Chief Ministers, including those from the Muslim community, to promote inclusivity. He criticized the NDA for opposing EBC representation, noting that its IT cell has been attacking the alliance over candidate choices.
