Telangana Congress MP demands CBI probe into paper leak case

Hyderabad, March 29 (). Congress MP Komatireddy Venkata Reddy on Wednesday demanded a CBI inquiry into the TSPSC paper leak case in Telangana.

He said he would personally meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and request him to order a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Venkat Reddy, whose meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah in the past have been criticized by his own party leaders, made the announcement at a press conference in Bhongir.

He termed the paper leak in Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) as a serious issue which is linked to 30 lakh unemployed in the state. The MP demanded the resignation of TSPSC chairman Janardhana Reddy.

Meanwhile, protests by student groups continued in various parts of the state over the TSPSC paper leak issue.

Bahujan Vidyarthi Sangham and Students Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Osmania University tried to take out a march from Osmania University to TSPSC. However, the police stopped the protesters at the OU library.

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) leaders and activists staged a sit-in at the Osmania University campus and demanded an inquiry by a sitting High Court judge.

On being denied permission to set up tents, the protesters sat on a dharna in the open. BJP leader M. Shashidhar Reddy showed solidarity with the protesters. He Chief Minister K. Slogans were raised demanding Chandrasekhar Rao’s resignation and sacking of TSPSC chairman.

ABVP also protested at IDPL in Quthbullapur on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Protests by student groups continued in Warangal. The unemployed staged a sit-in at Hanamkonda.

Leaders of student groups said that several days have passed since the paper was leaked, but all the accused are yet to be arrested.

Meanwhile, tension prevailed at Kakatiya University when students and the unemployed tried to hold a meeting to discuss their problems. The university authorities did not give permission for the meeting, but the students took out a march and tried to lay siege to the vice-chancellor’s office.
