Hyderabad: The Telangana men’s team advanced to the knockout rounds of the American Flag Football National Championship 2025, achieving convincing victories in all their league matches at the Gymkhana Grounds, Secunderabad, today. Telangana defeated Maharashtra (20–12), Uttar Pradesh (14–6), and received walkovers against Bihar and Haryana, establishing themselves as formidable title contenders. In other men’s matches, Andhra Pradesh showcased strong performances with wins over Jharkhand (18–8) and Delhi (6–0), while Kerala also made their presence felt, securing victories in both their games, including a significant 28–6 win against Jharkhand. Karnataka and Kerala played to a 6–6 draw, while Uttar Pradesh dominated Maharashtra with a 30–0 victory.
In the women’s category, Telangana had a challenging day, suffering a 0–24 defeat to Uttar Pradesh before managing a tough 6–6 draw against Andhra Pradesh. The Karnataka women’s team excelled, achieving a remarkable 68–0 win over Delhi and another substantial 42–0 victory against Bihar. Uttar Pradesh also performed well, defeating Andhra Pradesh 42–0. The National Championship 2025 includes senior men’s and women’s teams from across the nation, with top-performing teams set to compete in the knockout rounds tomorrow.
