Three children die due to drowning in river in Tripura

Agartala, May 21 (). In a tragic incident, three children – two boys and a girl – drowned in a river and another boy fell seriously ill in Tripura’s Khowai district on Sunday.

A police spokesman said three children, aged between six and 12 years, drowned in the Khowai river while taking a bath and died. Six-year-old Ayan Das was saved by his grandfather.

The spokesman said Tripura Fire and Emergency Services personnel along with some local residents retrieved the bodies of three children from the river and sent them to a government hospital, where they were declared brought dead.

All the three children are residents of West Tripura district and had gone to their uncle’s house in Paharamura for a social function. The names of the deceased children are Saptadeep Nama (6), Babli Roy (11) and Mautsi Das (12).
