Uttar Pradesh to Host Trade Shows in All Districts Starting October 9

Greater Noida, September 28: In response to the central government’s reduction in GST rates, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced a significant initiative for entrepreneurs. Khadi and Village Industries Minister Rakesh Sachan revealed that from October 9 to 16, eight-day trade shows will be held in all 75 districts of the state, offering entrepreneurs free stalls to display and promote their products on a larger scale. This announcement was made during a seminar titled “Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion” on the fourth day of the UP International Trade Show (UPITS). Minister Sachan underscored the importance of GST reforms, noting that this is the first extensive relief since the GST’s implementation, which revitalizes the MSME sector.

He mentioned that previously, trade shows were limited to divisional levels, but due to the success of UPITS, the government has decided to extend them to every district. Entrepreneurs from various fields, including Khadi, textiles, and ODOP, will be involved, with officials assigned to find appropriate venues. The Minister expressed concern over the decline in Khadi production and showrooms, stating that ongoing discussions with experts and stakeholders are in progress. There are also plans to establish Khadi showrooms in universities to engage the younger population. Rakesh Sachan highlighted that, unlike many fabrics which are detrimental to health and the environment, Khadi is natural, pure, and safe.

He dismissed the notion that Khadi is expensive, clarifying that it is actually more affordable than numerous other fabrics. Furthermore, he noted that since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office, Khadi has gained a renewed national identity, with the Prime Minister consistently promoting the integration of Khadi with contemporary design and technology. Consequently, sales of Khadi products have more than doubled in recent years.
