Ghaziabad, March 29 (). Traveling on two major highways of western Uttar Pradesh is going to be expensive. Toll rates on Delhi-Meerut Expressway and Ghaziabad-Aligarh Highway will increase by 10 percent from 12 midnight on March 31. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has released the list of new rates.
About 1 lakh 20 thousand vehicle drivers plying daily on both the highways will be affected by the increase in toll. On the Delhi-Meerut Expressway alone, the government will earn an additional Rs 10.95 crore in the year before the toll hike.
According to Arvind Kumar, Project Director, NHAI Ghaziabad, the list of toll rates to be increased on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway has been received. It is being pasted at the Kashi toll plaza of Partapur (Meerut) so that the drivers can know in advance. Toll has been increased by Rs 5 on private vehicles and Rs 15 to 20 on commercial vehicles. From Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan to Meerut, car owners will now have to pay a toll of Rs 160, earlier it was Rs 155.
According to the toll rates on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, now the new rate has come. Due to which earlier Rs 155 was charged from a light four wheeler, which has now become Rs 160. Along with this, commercial four wheelers used to pay Rs 245 earlier, now they will pay Rs 260. 6 Tyra trucks and buses will be replaced by 520 with 545. 10 tyra big trucks will now pay Rs 595 instead of Rs 565. 855 will be given instead of 815 for 12 tyra large commercial vehicles. Trola truck instead of 990 will now give 1040 rupees.
On the Ghaziabad-Bulandshahr-Aligarh highway too, toll tax will be increased by 10 percent from 12 midnight on March 31. There are two toll plazas on NH-91. One is at Luharli in Bulandshahr district and the other at Gabhana in Aligarh district. About 80 thousand vehicles pass through these two toll plazas daily. Till now the toll tax of the car at Luharli toll plaza is Rs 135.
