Hyderabad, March 30 (). A TSRTC bus going from Hyderabad to Vijayawada caught fire after colliding with a two-wheeler in Telangana’s Suryapet district on Thursday.
A Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) Rajdhani bus, which was going from Hyderabad to Vijayawada, collided with a motorcycle near Indira Nagar in Munagala mandal of Suryapet district.
The bike came under the bus and caught fire. In no time, the fire engulfed the bus. The passengers got down in panic. Within minutes, the entire bus was gutted in flames. A fire engine reached the spot and doused the fire.
Murugesh Raju (48), who was driving the bike, was seriously injured and succumbed to his injuries on the way to a hospital in Suryapet.
This is the second TSRTC bus to catch fire in the same district in two days.
The driver and the mechanic had a narrow escape after the bus caught fire on Wednesday. The incident took place when they were taking the bus to Suryapet depot.
The bus was going from Khammam to Hyderabad with 20 passengers. At Suyarpet, the vehicle broke down due to a mechanical problem. TSRTC officials arranged an alternate bus for the stranded passengers.
Later, the driver along with a mechanic managed to start the bus and decided to take it to Suryapet depot. However, after driving some distance, the driver noticed smoke and informed the mechanic. Flames engulfed the vehicle, although both managed to get down.
