New Delhi: Two individuals, connected to a network in Vietnam operating fake job schemes aimed at Indians looking for employment in Australia and Canada, have been arrested for allegedly defrauding a man from Delhi of Rs 3.12 lakh, according to police reports on Friday. After conducting three days of raids across 1,000 km in Uttar Pradesh, law enforcement apprehended the mastermind, Sahdev Singh (37), and his accomplice Neeraj (37) in Etah. During questioning, Singh revealed his collaboration with racketeers in Vietnam who targeted Indian job seekers. The investigation began when a 40-year-old hospitality and tourism management professional from Burari reported being cheated out of Rs 3.12 lakh with the promise of an Australian visa and job.

The complainant informed police that he was initially contacted via a social media group by someone using the name Mayank Pandey, who arranged a visa for Vietnam to gain his trust. Subsequently, the accused claimed that to obtain an Australian visa, the complainant had to demonstrate a cryptocurrency balance of USDT 3,000 in his account. The victim transferred Rs 3.12 lakh to the suspects but did not receive the promised employment or a refund, police stated. A case was filed on September 6, and a specialized police team initiated a technical investigation. To hide his identity, Singh utilized foreign SIM cards and operated under various aliases, including Mayank Pandey, Rahul Kumar, and Ajay Yadav.
