Uttar Pradesh's Growth Driven by Infrastructure and Business Ease

On Friday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that strong infrastructure, an improved business climate, and effective law enforcement are essential for attracting global investments. He highlighted that Uttar Pradesh now boasts excellent infrastructure and a commendable law and order system, facilitating substantial investments from both domestic and international sources. During the inaugural ceremony of the UP Trade Show Swadeshi Mela at Champa Devi Park in Gorakhpur, he noted that Swadeshi Melas are being held in every district. The recent Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show in Greater Noida showcased over 2,250 entrepreneurs and attracted more than 500 foreign buyers, resulting in sales worth Rs 11,200 crore.

Adityanath emphasized the transformation of Uttar Pradesh from a ‘BIMARU’ state to an ‘Udyam Pradesh’—a term indicating a focus on enterprise. He explained that the establishment of enterprises leads to job creation, enhanced connectivity, and technological advancement, benefiting both industries and the general populace. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Uttar Pradesh has shed its former ‘BIMARU’ image and become a key driver of the national economy. Criticizing previous administrations, Adityanath remarked that before 2017, starting a business in the state was nearly impossible due to widespread disorder. However, since then, a robust security framework and a zero-tolerance policy have been implemented, simplifying industrial regulations and enhancing the ease of doing business.

MSMEs have been granted exemptions for obtaining NOCs for up to 1,000 days, fostering a thriving entrepreneurial environment. Currently, there are 9.6 million active units in the MSME sector, providing jobs for 20 million people. Adityanath noted that MSMEs are crucial for employment generation, particularly during crises, as evidenced by their support for 4 million workers who migrated to Uttar Pradesh during the COVID-19 pandemic. He asserted that the state is becoming a model of self-reliance, with notable advancements in law enforcement and infrastructure across highways, railways, airways, and inland waterways. Additionally, he urged citizens to support indigenous products, stating that promoting Swadeshi would honor the work of local artisans and craftsmen while keeping the nation’s resources within the country.
