Amethi, May 10 (). Two students were burnt to death when a school van caught fire in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi district on Wednesday. Six other students also received injuries. Eight are undergoing treatment in the hospital.
The incident is of Sangrampur police station area of the district.
Circle Officer, Amethi, Lallan Singh said that all the eight students are out of danger and admitted to the district hospital.
Prima facie it appears that the radiator of the van burst, causing the fire.
The van was in a dilapidated condition and lacked all basic fire safety standards.
“We are probing and action will be taken against the van driver and other people responsible,” he said.
The injured children belong to a private school. The relatives of the children injured in the accident have accused the school management of negligence.
Ajay Kumar Tiwari, whose son sustained injuries, said, “We raised the issue with the school authorities last month when the children were asked to push after the van broke down.
