In Ahmedabad, the West Indies find themselves in a challenging position regarding their Test status. However, the touring team intends to replicate New Zealand’s successful strategy that led to their dominance over India last season, according to captain Roston Chase, prior to the first Test set to begin on Thursday. Last year, New Zealand became the first team in 12 years to defeat India on their home ground, breaking the home team’s impressive 18-series unbeaten streak with a 3-0 victory. Chase acknowledged the West Indies’ current struggles in the World Test Championship standings but emphasized the need to move past that.
He noted, “New Zealand came last year and dominated India, so we are really trying to learn from what they did and try to put some of those things in place so that we can play good cricket and compete to win the series.”
