The office of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has now shifted back to Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s Delhi residence, 21 Ashoka Road. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has previously been the chief of WFI and a five-time BJP MP, has been facing serious allegations of sexual abuse.
The office returned from Hari Nagar to its old address
In December 2023, the WFI office was shifted to Hari Nagar, Delhi. But according to the Indian Express report, now the office has again moved to 21 Ashoka Road. This is the same place where Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh lives during his stay in Delhi.
Sexual harassment case against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was accused of sexual exploitation by many female wrestlers of the country. Due to these allegations, he did not contest the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. A case is going on against him in a Delhi court and charges have been framed against him. Despite this, his relationship with the Wrestling Federation of India remains intact.
Statement of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh
On this controversy, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh said,
“The government cannot decide where the WFI office will run. This is an internal matter of the federation.”
He also added that the federation is currently looking for a new place.
“The WFI office is currently in Hari Nagar, but the new place will be decided soon. I have a personal connection with the sport and wrestlers, so people keep coming to 21 Ashoka Road.”
Search for a new place for the Federation’s office
Brij Bhushan clarified that the federation will soon choose a new place for the office. He said,
“I have been associated with wrestling for a long time. Athletes and wrestlers come to meet me. I do not do any wrongdoing. This matter is not a big issue.”
Is this a controversial decision?
The shifting of the Wrestling Federation of India office to Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s house has once again raised controversy. While on one hand there is a sexual harassment case going on against him, on the other hand shifting the WFI office to his residence raises many questions.
It remains to be seen how WFI will handle this dispute in the future and when will the office shift to the new location.
