WhatsApp and Facebook are introducing new features aimed at combating online scams. Users have previously been victimized during video calls, leading to the potential theft of money or personal data. WhatsApp will now provide a warning prior to screen sharing with unknown individuals, reminding users to share only with trusted contacts. Screen sharing remains secure and is not recorded. Additionally, Messenger will alert users to suspicious messages, prompting them to verify the message with AI and highlighting ways in which scammers can access information. These features are crucial for preventing errors and safeguarding financial and personal data. In India, UPI applications also alert users when transferring money to help them avoid scams.
