A woman tragically lost her life after a quack and his nephew conducted a surgery on her, allegedly guided by a YouTube video. This incident occurred in the Kothi police station area, where the duo was reportedly operating an illegal clinic.
Details of the Surgery
Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, India, 11 December 2025 | The victim, Munishra Rawat, was suffering from a stone-related ailment. On December 5, her husband, Tehbahadur Rawat, took her to the clinic run by Gyan Prakash Mishra, who claimed that surgery was necessary. He quoted an estimated cost of Rs 25,000 for the operation.
Negligent Medical Practices
Tehbahadur Rawat alleged that Mishra, described as a quack, was under the influence of alcohol during the procedure. After watching a YouTube video, he made a deep incision in Munishra’s abdomen, severing several veins. She succumbed to her injuries the following day, December 6.
Legal Action and Investigation
Kothi SHO Amit Singh Bhadoriya confirmed that a case has been filed against Mishra and his nephew for causing death by negligence, along with violations of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. Both accused are currently absconding, and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
Police reported that Vivek Kumar Mishra, the nephew, is employed at an ayurvedic hospital in Raebareli. The illegal clinic had allegedly been operating for several years, shielded by his government job.
