Pilibhit, May 7 (). In Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district, two men accused of raping a minor were caught and beaten by villagers by tying them to a tree. He was later handed over to the police.
According to reports, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two men, aged between 22 and 25, in a village under the limits of Pilibhit’s Seramau North police circle.
Hearing the cries of the victim, the local people rushed to the spot and caught the two while trying to escape.
They were tied to a tree and beaten. He was later handed over to the police.
The victim’s brother lodged a complaint with the police, following which an FIR was registered in the matter.
The accused have been booked under IPC sections 376D (gang rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) and appropriate sections of the POCSO Act, said a police spokesperson. The girl has been sent to the District Women’s Hospital for medical examination.
