3 cyber thugs arrested for issuing fake certificates

New Delhi, May 19 (). Delhi Police’s Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit has arrested three people for allegedly duping over 1,000 people across the country of Rs 17 lakh by issuing them fake certificates and IDs. An official of Common Service Centers (CSC) gave this information on Thursday.

The accused have been identified as Monu Sharma (24), Kuldeep Singh (27) and Chitresh Goyal (26), all residents of Sikar in Rajasthan.

Common Service Centers are physical facilities for delivering government e-services to rural and remote locations, where computer and internet availability is negligible or generally absent.

These centers are access points for delivery of various Government-to-Citizen (G2C) e-services in the fields of healthcare, finance, education, agriculture etc. It is a pan India network for regional, geographical, linguistic and cultural services. The country’s diversity, thus enabling the government’s mandate of a socially, economically and digitally inclusive society.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (IFSO), Prashant Gautam said: Akhileshwar Yadav, Advisor (Vigilance) in CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd. had lodged a complaint with IFSO, stating that various G2C services were being provided to citizens through the SPV, CSC. and provides a centralized collaborative framework for the delivery of B2C services.

It was also alleged in the complaint that some unknown persons were misrepresenting that they could facilitate registration as Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) and CSCs without any examination after paying a certain amount. ID can be assigned.

Besides, they were also charging money for approving CSC ID, certificate etc. on behalf of the complainant company, Gautam said.

During investigation, it was found that the fake website was created under the name Indian Guru Sharma.

The DCP said, on enquiry, the registered mobile number of the ID was found to be subscribed in the name of Monu.

However, both the accused were not found at the registered address.

The team carried out investigation and was able to trace the alleged persons, the official said.

Police teams raided Rajasthan and arrested Monu along with his associate Kuldeep. On his tip, Chitresh was arrested from a hotel in Jaipur.

During interrogation it was revealed that Chitresh is the mastermind of this network.
