SpiceJet has announced the appointment of Sanjay Kumar as Executive Director, effective November 3, 2025. In this role, Kumar will oversee the airline’s strategic initiatives aimed at expansion, operational excellence, and business transformation, reporting directly to Chairman and Managing Director Ajay Singh. With over three decades of extensive experience in the aviation sector, Kumar is well-versed in network planning, revenue management, marketing, and commercial strategy. He has played a significant role in shaping India’s low-cost aviation market, having served nearly 12 years as Chief Commercial Officer and over three years as Chief Strategy & Revenue Officer at IndiGo. Additionally, he has held key leadership roles at InterGlobe Technology Quotient and AirAsia India.
Ajay Singh expressed enthusiasm about Kumar’s return, stating that his expertise will be crucial for SpiceJet’s new growth trajectory. Kumar also expressed his anticipation for rejoining SpiceJet during an important phase for the company, emphasizing the vast opportunities in the Indian aviation market. His appointment reflects SpiceJet’s commitment to building a strong leadership team to navigate the next phase of transformation, focusing on fleet expansion, network growth, financial stability, and digital innovation. SpiceJet is known for making flying affordable in India, operating a fleet that includes Boeing 737s and Q-400s, and is a major player in regional connectivity through multiple daily flights under the UDAN scheme.
