The grand Dasara celebrations in Proddatur, located in the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh, are renowned for their magnificence and devotion. Each year, visitors from nearby villages and other states gather to experience this spectacle. To share this cultural grandeur with a broader audience across the country, filmmaker Murali Krishna Thumma has produced a documentary that highlights the vibrant spirit of Proddatur’s Dasara celebrations. Created under the Balcony Originals banner and presented by Bushetty Jewellers, the project was financed by Prem Kumar Valapala, with support from the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority. Released on October 31, the documentary has received critical acclaim for its visually rich presentation and authentic representation of regional traditions.
Now streaming on the Telugu OTT platform ETV Win, this 40-minute film captures the rituals, customs, and cultural splendor of the festival. Through its cinematic storytelling, it provides a vivid insight into Proddatur’s heritage and the community’s deep-rooted devotion driving these celebrations. Digital promotions for the film were managed by Star Circles, with Kilari Subba Rao acting as the public relations officer. Following the success of Proddatur Dasara, Balcony Originals plans to produce additional feature films and documentaries that showcase India’s diverse cultural landscape. This documentary serves as a proud testament to the cultural richness of Andhra Pradesh, making regional heritage accessible to audiences across the nation.
