New Delhi / Jaipur, April 11 (). Rajasthan Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Tuesday said the fight against corruption will continue after calling off his day-long fast demanding action from the Gehlot government on alleged corruption during the BJP’s tenure.
Despite party objections, Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot sat on a day-long fast (from 11 am to 4 pm) at Shaheed Smarak in Jaipur.
Talking to media persons, Pilot said, after coming to power, we had assured the people that effective action would be taken against the corruption done by the previous BJP government in the state. I want the Congress government to take action against the corruption done by the previous BJP government.
Pilot accused the Gehlot government of inaction on the allegations of corruption leveled against the then Vasundhara Raje government.
Pilot said, no action was taken on the allegations of corruption during the Vasundhara government. While in the opposition, we had promised that an inquiry would be conducted. Since the elections are six-seven months away, questions may arise whether there was an alliance between Gehlot and Raje. Action will have to be taken soon to prove that this is not the case. Congress workers should also realize that there is no difference between our words and actions.
Hours before Pilot’s fast on Monday, Congress state in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa termed the move as an anti-party activity. Randhawa had said, Sachin Pilot’s fast is against the interests of the party and is an anti-party activity. If he has any problem with his own government, it can be discussed in party forums instead of media and public.
