Hyderabad, June 4 (). BJP’s Telangana unit president Bandi Sanjay has dismissed as mere speculation some media reports that the BJP will forge an alliance with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Telangana for the upcoming assembly elections.
Sanjay told his party workers on Sunday that there was no need to pay attention to the speculations being made in the media.
TDP President and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. In Chandrababu Naidu’s Delhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President J.P. There were speculations of an alliance after meeting Nadda.
This was Naidu’s first meeting with Amit Shah after TDP’s exit from the BJP-led NDA in 2018.
The meeting held at Amit Shah’s Delhi residence on Saturday night lasted for about an hour. The three leaders are believed to have discussed the proposal to revive the alliance.
They are said to have discussed the possibilities of a TDP-BJP alliance in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Assembly elections in Telangana are due in late 2023, while Andhra Pradesh assembly elections are likely to be held next year along with the Lok Sabha elections.
Sanjay, who is also a BJP MP, said there was nothing wrong in Naidu meeting Amit Shah and Nadda. He remarked that BJP leaders do not shy away from meeting opposition leaders and people.
The BJP leader also said that the BJP is not like Chief Minister KCR to mortgage the interests of the state.
