In a significant development regarding the Faridabad terror case, police seized around 2,563 kilograms of ammonium nitrate from a residence in Fatehpur Taga village on Monday. The property had been leased approximately eight months prior by Dr. Muzammil Shakil, a doctor from Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, who was affiliated with Al-Falah Medical College. The house is owned by a local imam, Maulana Istaq, who has been detained for questioning. Faridabad ACP (Crime) Varun Dahiya reported that two properties linked to Dr. Shakil have been identified so far: one in Fatehpur Taga and another in Dhauj village, where 360 kilograms of explosives and weapons were confiscated the previous day.
Authorities suspect that the ammonium nitrate was delivered to the doctor about two weeks before his arrest, intended for the construction of improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Local residents mentioned that police arrived early in the morning, took the imam into custody, and confiscated his mobile phone. His wife indicated that he had been serving at the local mosque for over twenty years. Additionally, investigators are looking into a woman doctor connected to Dr. Shakil, who is being interrogated in Jammu and Kashmir after an AK Krinkov rifle, three magazines, a pistol, and live ammunition were found in a vehicle registered under her name.
Officials have refrained from providing further information, citing that the investigation involves several agencies and that premature disclosures could jeopardize the ongoing operation.
