Chirag Paswan Affirms Loyalty to PM Modi Amid Elections

Chirag Paswan, the chief of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and Union Minister, reaffirmed his steadfast loyalty to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating he has no plans to change his political alignment after the Bihar elections. In a recent podcast with ANI, released the day before the second phase of voting, Paswan expressed his strong admiration for Modi, saying, “I love him a bit too much. As long as my Prime Minister is there, I’m not going anywhere.

My dedication and love remain unchanged.” When asked if his connection with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is solely due to the Prime Minister, he confirmed, “Of course.” Addressing forecasts that the November 14 results might not be favorable for him, Paswan remarked that such predictions help “ward off the evil eye.” He emphasized that he embodies the political principles of his late father, Ram Vilas Paswan, and pointed out that his party has never engaged in post-poll alliances. “Anyone who has observed my father’s political career knows that his values are within me. Every alliance he entered eventually attained power,” he stated.

Established in 2000, the Lok Janshakti Party has experienced a varied history with alliances, initially being a part of the NDA, then joining the UPA in 2004 after the Godhra riots, before returning to the NDA in 2014 under Modi’s leadership. Following internal conflicts after Ram Vilas Paswan’s passing in 2020, the party divided into two factions, led by Chirag Paswan and Pashupati Kumar Paras. Chirag Paswan’s faction rejoined the NDA prior to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and won all five seats it contested in Bihar, while Paras opted not to run.
