New Delhi, May 20 (). Apart from Chief Minister-designate Siddaramaiah of Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister-designate D.K. Shivakumar and eight other ministers will also take oath in Bengaluru on Saturday. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at 12.30 pm at the Kanteerava Stadium in the state capital.
AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge has invited leaders of 19 like-minded parties for the function. All the three Congress Chief Ministers have also reached Bengaluru to participate in this program.
In a letter to Siddaramaiah, party general secretary (organisation) K.C. Venugopal said, the Congress President has approved the list of cabinet ministers in the Karnataka government. In these A.G. Parmeshwar, K.H. Muniyappa, K.J. George, MB Patil, Satish Jarkiholi, Priyank Kharge, Ramalimga Reddy and B.Z. The names of Jamir Ahmed Khan are included.
On Friday, Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar had arrived in the national capital to discuss the appointment of cabinet ministers and personally invite senior party leaders for Saturday’s function.
He held meetings with Venugopal and Karnataka Congress in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala to discuss the state cabinet.
The two also met Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
After continuous meetings for three days, the Congress on Thursday ended the mystery of the name of the new Chief Minister of Karnataka.
In the assembly elections held on May 10, the Congress won 135 out of 224 seats, while the BJP was reduced to 66 and the JD-S 19.
