Guwahati, May 2 (). An army jawan was killed in a blast at the Darranga field firing range in Assam’s Baksa district. Officials gave this information on Tuesday.
A defense spokesperson said Sandeep Kumar was seriously injured in the explosion that occurred while on duty at the firing range on Monday. He was provided immediate medical aid on the spot by a Regimental Medical Officer available on the range.
Sandeep was later airlifted to the Base Hospital in Guwahati, where he died on Monday night.
He belonged to Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. He is survived by his wife and 1-year-old son.
The Indian Army has expressed grief over the incident. In a statement, the Indian Army said it stands firmly with the bereaved family of the soldier who lost his life in the incident.
An inquiry has been ordered to know the truth of this incident.
