Producer Venu Donepudi’s Chitralayam Studios is preparing to offer a distinctive cinematic experience with its forthcoming crime comedy, Baa Baa Black Sheep. Currently being filmed in the stunning landscapes of Meghalaya, this project is notable for being the first feature film shot entirely in the northeastern state, often referred to as the ‘Land of Clouds.’ Directed by newcomer Guni Manchikanti, the film features a diverse cast that includes Tinnu Anand, Upendra Limaye, George Marian, Raja Ravindra, Akshay Lagusani, Vishnu Oi, Karthikeya Dev, Kasyap, Vismaya, Malvi Malhotra, and Samriddhi Aryal. The plot unfolds within a single day, focusing on six characters caught in an exhilarating quest for guns and gold.
Regarding the production, Venu Donepudi stated, ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep is set entirely in Meghalaya — from its waterfalls to its misty mountains. The state’s natural beauty aligns perfectly with the film’s narrative tone.’ The filming location of Sohra (Cherrapunji), known as one of the wettest regions on the planet, has presented challenging weather conditions for the team, yet they remain committed to delivering breathtaking visuals. The Meghalaya government has provided its full support to the endeavor, with Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma personally engaging with the crew to ensure smooth filming operations.
Supported by Chitralayam Studios’ mission to nurture new talent and create engaging, high-quality cinema, Baa Baa Black Sheep is evolving into a visually appealing and entertaining crime comedy filled with love, humor, and adventure.
