Kolkata, May 14 (). West Bengal has performed exceptionally well in the Indian School Certification Examination (ICSE) and Indian School Certificate (ISC) examinations. The results of ICSE and ISC have been declared on Sunday.
Sambit Mukhopadhyay of St. Xavier’s School in East Burdwan district of the state is one of the nine toppers in the ICSE (Class 10) exams. A total of 22 students from West Bengal have included themselves in the top 3 positions in the ICSE exam.
Two out of five students who have secured first position in ISC (Class 12) are from West Bengal. They are Subham Kumar Agarwal of St. Joseph’s School, Bhaktinagar in Darjeeling district and Manya Gupta of Heritage School, Kolkata.
A total of 18 students from West Bengal have secured themselves in the top 3 positions in the ISC exam, out of which 2 are in the first position, 6 in the second and 10 in the third position.
The pass percentage of West Bengal candidates in ICSE examination is 98.71 percent and in ISC examination it is 96.88 percent.
A total of 41,506 students from 418 schools in West Bengal appeared for the ICSE exams this year. Of these, 18,547 were girls and 22,959 were boys. The pass percentage of girls in West Bengal is 99.01 percent and that of boys is 98.47 percent.
Coming to the ISC exam, this year a total of 27,442 candidates from 312 schools appeared in the exam. Of these, 14,792 were girls and 12,650 were boys. The pass percentage of girls in West Bengal is 98.04 percent and that of boys is 95.99 percent.
