Kolkata, May 22 (). A special PMLA court in the city on Monday extended the judicial custody of former West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee till June 30. He is an accused in the alleged multi-crore school recruitment scam in the state.
The judicial custody of former West Bengal Board of Secondary Examination (WBBSE) chairman Kalyanmoy Ganguly has also been extended till June 30.
Chatterjee almost broke down in front of media persons when he was asked about the questioning of Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday while coming to the court.
Chatterjee told media persons, please talk about people like me, who are behind bars for more than 300 days without a proper trial.
Kalyanmoy Ganguly on Monday appealed to be released on parole for six hours on May 24 so that he could attend the first birthday celebrations of his granddaughter. The special court judge advised him to submit an application in this regard to the superintendent of the correctional home where he is now lodged.
