Bihar court fines Lalu's brother-in-law Rs 1,000 for violating code of conduct

Patna, June 2 (). Bihar’s Gopalganj district court on Friday imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on Anirudh Prasad alias Sadhu Yadav, brother-in-law of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, for violating the model code of conduct.

During the court hearing, Sadhu Yadav pleaded for pardon as this was his first such offence. He also said that he has health issues and has recently undergone eye surgery.

The court took note of Sadhu Yadav’s submissions and relieved him of his jail term, saying that if he repeats such an offense in future, he will have to undergo six months in jail.

Sadhu Yadav was the BSP candidate from Gopalganj assembly seat and on October 16, 2020, the Zonal Officer lodged an FIR against him for conducting a roadshow from Hagiapur to Monia Chowk without permission. He had gathered more than 400 people for the roadshow.

The court took cognizance of the FIR on 4 June 2021 and asked Sadhu Yadav to file a reply.
