Bihar Elections Phase 2: Jitan Ram Manjhi Optimistic About NDA's Success

Voting is currently taking place in 20 districts for 122 assembly seats during the second phase of the Bihar elections, with a steady turnout reported in various areas, including Gaya. Jitan Ram Manjhi, chief of the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and a Union minister, cast his vote in his home village of Mahakar, Gaya, and expressed strong confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would achieve a significant victory. After voting, Manjhi stated, “The NDA is receiving extensive public support. We are sure of winning at least 80 out of 122 seats.” He credited the alliance’s favorable prospects to its development record, saying, “The NDA has provided Bihar with new directions in roads, education, and health.

People desire development, not chaos.” He also noted that women voters had again come out in large numbers to support the alliance. In the first phase, voter turnout was approximately 65%, with women constituting over 70% of the electorate. By 3 PM on Tuesday, polling officials reported a turnout of 60.40% in the second phase, with Gaya district achieving over 62.74%. Manjhi’s party, HAM (Secular), is competing for six seats in this election, with candidates including his daughter-in-law Deepa Kumari from Imamganj, Anil Kumar from Tikari, his sister-in-law Jyoti Devi from Barachatti, Romit Kumar from Attari, Prafull Kumar Manjhi from Sikandra, and Lalan Ram from Kutumba. Their electoral fate will be determined today via electronic voting machines.
