Bhopal, 27 April (). Madhya Pradesh Police on Wednesday razed the house of a man who allegedly shot dead a 22-year-old woman in broad daylight in Dhar district. The accused has been identified as Deepak Kumar (22), who is yet to be arrested.
According to the police, the accused fired twice at the woman from very close range, one on her head and the other on her chest. Police said the accused was the victim’s boyfriend, who had been stalking her for the last two years.
Dhar district superintendent of police Manoj Kumar Singh said, Deepak was stalking the woman for the past two years. On Wednesday, he found him alone on the road and opened fire on him. He is still absconding and police teams have been formed to nab him. A reward of Rs 10,000 has been kept. An announcement has also been made for any information which could lead the police to Deepak.
The incident took place around 11 am when the victim, a resident of Basant Vihar, had gone to the temple with her friend.
Later on Wednesday evening, the police razed the house of the accused using a bulldozer.
Meanwhile, the opposition Congress has questioned the law and order situation in Madhya Pradesh, besides demanding compensation for the victim’s family.
Madhya Pradesh Congress President Kamal Nath said, the woman had earlier filed a molestation case against the accused. It is a matter of great concern that the government could not save the life of the woman.
