New Delhi, May 17 (). CBI has summoned former chief of Mumbai zone Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Sameer Wankhede in connection with the extortion case related to Aryan Khan. Khan was arrested along with others in the drugs case.
It is alleged that Sameer Wankhede and others had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 25 crore from Aryan Khan’s family. The amount was later reduced to Rs 18 crore and he was reportedly paid a token amount of Rs 50 lakh.
NCB’s DDG Gyaneshwar Singh had submitted a report to the CBI, on the basis of which the probe agency registered the case.
Gyaneshwar Singh had submitted the report to the CBI for registering a case against Sameer Wankhede, the then Superintendent of NCB VV Singh and the then investigating officer of the case, Ashish Ranjan.
Wankhede will have to appear at the CBI’s Mumbai zone office to record his statement. The CBI had already seized his cell phone to get the data.
