New Delhi, May 10 (). The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested an interstate robber involved in multiple thefts in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. An official provided this information on Wednesday.
The accused has been identified as Aseeb, a resident of Guna district of Madhya Pradesh. The accused has been arrested from Naraina. The accused along with his gang was planning a robbery in Greater Kailash area.
A reward of Rs 25,000 was also announced for information leading to his arrest, the official said. Police said that in February last year, Pawan Kumar had complained of theft at his jewelery showroom in Buddha Bazaar near Sainik Farms in south Delhi.
It was stated in the complaint that some unknown persons had stolen gold, diamond, silver jewelery and other valuables from his shop. During investigation, it was revealed that Asib was involved in this case along with his associates. Aseeb was wanted in this case, though some of his gang members had already been arrested and were on the run.
DCP Special Cell I. Pratap Singh said that in the last few months, information was being received that members of an interstate gang of criminals from Madhya Pradesh were planning to commit some heinous crime in Delhi.
In February this year, two members of this gang, Giriraj and Tommy, were arrested, but other members of the gang were absconding.
Singh said a tip-off was received on Monday that Asib, a key gang member, was meeting his gang members at Naraina to commit some crime in and around Greater Kailash.
Acting on the inputs, the police team laid a trap and arrested Asib. During interrogation, Asib revealed that in order to earn easy money, he along with Tommy, Giriraj, Vikram, Shahrukh, Pappu, Ajay and others started robbing shops, showrooms or secluded houses.
Singh said that usually, they used to do Reiki while selling toys and finalize their targets during the day. They used to target houses, shops or showrooms which are isolated or where women live.
