Delhi's Fight Against Pollution Needs Public Support, Says Sirsa

New Delhi: Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa stated on Wednesday that the government is actively combating pollution and called on citizens to participate in efforts to enhance the city’s air quality. He mentioned that 62 new pollution hotspots have been identified, with measures being implemented to tackle these issues. Solid waste, road dust, construction activities, and traffic congestion are the primary contributors to the rising air quality index in Delhi, Sirsa informed reporters. “Sixty-two hotspots have been identified that contribute to pollution caused by garbage and dust. All Delhi government ministers, under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s guidance, are checking these hotspots,” he added.

He urged residents to support the initiative aimed at eliminating garbage, dust, and pollution from the city. “The Delhi government is waging a war against pollution. This must be a collective effort, and I encourage people to join in to make Delhi free of garbage, dust, and pollution,” he emphasized. Sirsa visited one of the hotspots in the Palam area alongside the local MLA. Delhi’s air quality has remained in the ‘very poor’ category for the sixth consecutive day, with an AQI of 391. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board’s (CPCB) Sameer app, 18 of the 38 monitoring stations recorded AQI levels in the ‘severe’ category.
