On Tuesday, the second day of the Dasara Sarannavaratri celebrations at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Vari Devasthanam on Indrakeeladri, the event was filled with grandeur and devotion as Goddess Durga Devi manifested in the divine form of Sri Gayatri Devi Avataram, regarded as the mother of the Vedas. A large number of devotees flocked to the temple to offer prayers and partake in the Kumkuma Pooja at the Mallikharjuna Maha Mandapam. Temple priests described Sri Gayatri Devi as being seated on a red lotus, depicted with five heads and ten hands, symbolizing wisdom, knowledge, and the incarnations of Parvati and Saraswati.
The temple welcomed several notable leaders and ministers, including Home and Disaster Management Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, Women and Child Welfare Minister Gummadi Sandhya Rani, and BC Welfare Minister S Savitha, along with MLAs Paritala Sunitha, Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy, Bandaru Sravani, and Galla Madhavi, and MLC Kavali Greeshma. Government Whip Bolisetti Srinivas and MLA P Dharma Raju also paid their respects at the temple. Temple Executive Officer VK Seena Naik greeted the dignitaries, while Vedic scholars provided blessings at the Veda Ashirvachanam Mandapam. The ministers assessed the arrangements and praised the efforts of the NTR district administration, police, and temple authorities in managing the large influx of visitors.
They oversaw the movement of pilgrims from the command control room at the Model Guest House and instructed officials to ensure optimal facilities for devotees. According to temple officials, approximately 66,000 devotees visited on the second day, marking a notable increase from the first day. Pilgrims experienced darshan within one to one-and-a-half hours through the queue lines arranged from the Sri Vinayaka Temple near VMC. The temple generated Rs 25.48 lakh through sales of Laddu Prasadam, darshan tickets, and special pujas. NTR district collector Dr G Lakshmisha, Police Commissioner SV Rajasekhar Babu, and VMC Commissioner HM Dhyanachandra personally oversaw the arrangements and assured devotees of a smooth and hassle-free experience.
