New Delhi. Among this year’s awardees is renowned Hindi writer and poet Dr. Ramdarash Mishra, who has been honored with the Padma Shri. On the eve of Republic Day, the announcement of the Padma Awards brought a flood of congratulations for the distinguished recipients. Their contributions are being widely appreciated.
Speaking with Media, Dr. Ramdarash Mishra expressed his gratitude, stating that while he has received numerous accolades for his literary work, the Padma Shri is the most special to him. He remarked, “This award, given by the government, is one of the country’s highest civilian honors, making it even more meaningful for me.”
Dr. Ramdarash Mishra Still Writing Passionately at Over 100 Years Old
Dr. Mishra, who is now over 100 years old, continues to write poetry, ghazals, and couplets with great enthusiasm. During his conversation with Media, he shared a few lines from one of his recently written romantic ghazals:
“Some flowers, some thorns, we shared along the way,
At every turn in our journey, we waited for each other,
Yes, we truly loved.”
Family Rejoices Over the Honor
His son, Shashank Mishra, expressed his happiness, saying that while his father has received many congratulatory messages, he himself has been overwhelmed with even more. He described his father as a humble and content person, stating, “He never chased fame or recognition. Whatever came his way, he accepted it with gratitude.” Shashank also extended his thanks to the government for acknowledging his father’s literary contributions.

Dr. Ramdarash Mishra has been recognized with the Padma Shri for his exceptional contributions to literature and education. A renowned poet and writer from Delhi, he has authored 32 poetry collections, 30 short story collections, 15 novels, 15 books on literary criticism, 4 essay collections, travelogues, and several memoirs.
