Esha Singh, a former Asian, Mixed Team, and Junior World champion, achieved a significant milestone by securing her first individual world championship medal, a bronze in the women’s 25m Pistol Olympic event, at the Olympic Shooting Range in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday. The Indian shooter scored 30 in the final, finishing behind China’s Yao Qianxun, who earned silver with a score of 38, and Korea’s reigning Olympic Champion Yang Jiin, who took gold with a score of 40. Esha’s accomplishment contributed to India’s successful campaign in the 10 Olympic events held at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Championship Rifle/Pistol, Cairo 2025, where the country achieved a historic total of one gold, three silver, and three bronze medals.
Overall, India ranks third in the medal table with three gold, five silver, and four bronze medals, trailing behind China, which leads with 10 gold medals, and Korea, which is in second place with six gold medals. Esha and double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker began the day in fourth and seventh positions, respectively, but both shot confidently and rapidly to advance into the top eight, scoring 587 and 586, with Esha securing the fifth qualifying spot and Manu the sixth among 86 competitors.
