Jaipur, May 18 (). The tussle between the two camps in the Rajasthan Congress, led by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former deputy CM Sachin Pilot, is no longer limited to verbal attacks. Supporters of both the leaders clashed in Ajmer on Thursday ahead of AICC secretary and Rajasthan co-in-charge Amrita Dhawan’s visit.
There was fierce kicking and punching between the supporters of Gehlot and Pilot, whose video is also becoming increasingly viral on social media. The clash broke out around noon when Congress workers from rural areas arrived for a meeting called by the District Congress Committee.
Party leaders said that it was a feedback program where Amrita Dhawan was supposed to take feedback from party workers. The Congress co-in-charge was to have one-to-one talks with the party leaders.
According to sources, the problem started after party workers from rural areas started coming to the venue. Party officials and workers from rural areas of Ajmer are reportedly pro-Pilot.
A war of words started between the supporters of the Gehlot camp and the supporters of the pilot, during which the matter became so big that both sides started fighting. Rural Congress worker Bhim Singh was beaten up.
When RTDC president Dharmendra Singh Rathore, who reached the spot along with state Congress secretary Mahendra Singh Rawata, tried to pacify the agitated party workers, they raised slogans of Rathore Murdabad. Later, the police intervened and pacified the clashing groups.
According to media reports, after the uproar, Amrita Dhawan took feedback from party workers at the circuit house.
