Gandhinagar, May 11 (). At least five people were killed and six others injured when a government bus ran over passengers waiting at a bus stop in Kalol town of Gujarat’s Gandhinagar district on Wednesday morning. The officers provided this information.
The accident happened around 7.30 in the morning. According to the police, the government bus was hit from behind by a speeding private bus, which led to the accident. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against the private bus driver.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said, the loss of lives of innocent passengers in the Kalol accident is extremely sad. I express my condolences to the families of the deceased. I pray to God for the speedy recovery of the injured. The state government has given Rs 4 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
The injured were taken to a government hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the dead were sent for post-mortem. The matter is still under investigation.
