Gurugram: Sextortion accused who drove man to commit suicide held

Gurugram, May 25 (). Police have arrested an accused from Nuh in connection with the suicide of a 38-year-old man in Dhankot village of Gurugram.

According to the police, the accused had demanded ransom from the victim in lieu of not making the objectionable video viral on social media. He had threatened that if the money was not given, he would make the video viral on social media. After the threat, the victim took a fatal step like suicide.

In this case, Gurugram Police has arrested 26-year-old Shakeel alias Shokeen from Nuh district of Haryana. During interrogation, the accused revealed that he along with his accomplices has been carrying out such incidents for the last one and a half years. He disclosed that he has carried out around 30 to 35 molestation incidents.

According to the police, the victim committed suicide on 15 November 2022 at Dhankot village. The relatives had also cremated him after the post-mortem, but after examining the mobile phone of the deceased, it was found that the victim was forced to commit suicide.

Police said that on scanning the mobile of the victim, the accused’s messages and video calls revealed that the accused was demanding money in the name of making the objectionable video viral on YouTube and the phone records of the deceased showed transaction details of Rs 72,800. Got it too.

A case of abetment to suicide by threatening the person of extortion was registered at Rajendra Park police station. Thereafter, a team of Dhankot Police Station led by Sub-Inspector Pradeep Kumar arrested the accused from Nuh.

According to the police investigation, the accused used to do business of extortion. After arresting the police team, the accused was produced in the court, from where he was sent to police custody.

During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused along with his accomplices used to convert their voice into the voice of a girl through a voice changer bluetooth handset and used to talk to people posing as a girl. While making video calls, he would play nude videos on the back screen and show the victims whom he called on the nude video screen, talking in a girl’s voice.

Nude video and the person in front seemed like a nude girl from the girl’s voice. The accused also used to ask the victims to strip off their clothes and record that call. After that, the accused along with his accomplices used to pressurize and mentally torture the person. He used to demand money by threatening to make the recorded video viral on social media.

The same happened with the deceased in this case and the victim committed suicide due to the pressure/harassment created by the accused along with his accomplices, Sub-Inspector Pradeep Kumar told . Police have recovered a voice changer bluetooth headset, a mobile phone and some cash from the possession of the accused.
