Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), April 9 (). Three young women have ended their lives after being harassed by boys over three days in separate incidents in Kanpur district.
In Sachendi, a 20-year-old girl hanged herself after barging into the house of a man in her village, who had threatened to kill her if she did not marry him.
Her brother said that she was engaged to another man on March 31, but the youth was pressurizing her and she committed suicide within minutes of being threatened. She said that the police did not pay heed to her complaint in the matter.
In another case, a boy stole pictures from the girl’s social media account and morphed them to harass her. After this the girl ended her life.
The girl’s father said that he had spoken to the boy and his father several times. But his courage increased further and he started sending more obscene messages.
On April 5, when the girl was at a grocery store, he followed her and insulted her for switching off her mobile. They told that when the family woke up the next day, they found him hanging from the ceiling noose.
In the third case, a 19-year-old girl committed suicide in Colonelganj on Saturday. She was being harassed by a boy.
Joint Commissioner of Police Anand Prakash Tiwari said that the police will take strict action in all the three cases.
