Ambala. Haryana’s Transport Minister, Anil Vij, once again displayed his tough stance. On Narayangarh Road in Ambala, he personally stepped onto the road to inspect heavy vehicles. During the inspection, he examined the documents of several dumpers and large vehicles and found multiple irregularities. Expressing his displeasure over the negligence of the Regional Transport Office (RTO), he stated that since officials did not comply with his orders, he had to take matters into his own hands and conduct the inspections himself.
Measured Vehicle Height with Measuring Tape
During the operation, Anil Vij used a measuring tape himself to check the height of vehicles, ensuring compliance with regulations. He instructed that vehicles found violating the rules should have their drivers sent to the police station. Additionally, he reprimanded the RTO and DSP, emphasizing that the RTO was not adhering to his directives, which forced him to personally intervene.
Medical Tests Ordered for Drunk Drivers
During the inspection, some drivers were found to be under the influence of alcohol. Minister Vij immediately ordered their medical examinations. He emphasized that driving under the influence is not only illegal but also poses a significant threat to road safety. He directed officials to take strict action against such negligence to ensure safer roads.
Anger Over RTO Negligence
Minister Anil Vij revealed that while returning from Rajasthan, he had instructed the RTA (Regional Transport Authority) to set up a checkpoint. However, his orders were ignored. Frustrated by this non-compliance, he decided to personally inspect the vehicles on the road. Every vehicle’s documents were thoroughly checked, and upon finding violations, immediate action was ordered against the drivers.
No Compromise on Road Safety
Anil Vij made it clear that there would be no compromise on road safety. He instructed officials to strictly enforce traffic regulations and take stringent action against those violating the rules.
His sudden inspection caused panic among drivers, with many attempting to flee the scene. Vij reiterated that such surprise inspections would continue in the future to ensure strict adherence to road safety norms and prevent accidents.
