Nainital, May 22 (). The cases of human wildlife conflict are increasing day by day in Uttarakhand. Today, a public interest litigation filed in this matter was heard in the High Court. In which the court has summoned the Principal Secretary Forest for not following the order. After hearing the case, the division bench of Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Rakesh Thapliyal has summoned Principal Forest Secretary RK Sudhanshu to the High Court on June 14 for not following the orders given earlier. Along with this, the court has also expressed its displeasure over the non-compliance of the order.
According to the information, Dehradun resident Anu Pant filed a PIL saying that after hearing the matter in November 2022, the High Court had given directions to the Principal Secretary Forest to constitute a committee of experts to prevent human-wildlife conflict. Do it. Earlier in this case, the affidavit filed by the then Chief Conservator of Forest Vinod Singhal mentioned only paperwork. But there was little mention of actually preventing human wildlife conflict.
Today again the matter was heard, in which the government told the court that this earlier order has not been complied with. That’s why more time should be given. So far 17 people have become victims of wildlife in the state after filing a PIL. In which the incident of Ranikhet last month is also prominent. Apart from this, news of human-wildlife conflict is continuously coming out from different districts of the state.
