iPhone Market Share Rises to 7%

According to a report shared by CyberMedia Research (CMR) with News Agency, Apple’s market share in the Indian smartphone sector reached 7% in 2024. The key reasons behind this growth include increased local production and a rising trend of premiumization in smaller cities.

Double-Digit Growth in iPad and iPhone Sales

Prabhu Ram, Vice President (Industry Research Group) at CMR, stated, “In the calendar year 2024, iPhone and iPad sales experienced strong double-digit growth, driven by the increasing preference for premium smartphones. Additionally, Apple is benefiting from expanding local manufacturing and its growing presence in the retail sector.”

Middle-Class Consumers Moving Towards Premium Devices

India’s middle class is rapidly shifting towards premium devices, not just due to lifestyle changes but also because of a growing aspiration to adopt advanced technology. Ram further added, “The appeal of iPhones and iPads remains a key driver of Apple’s market growth in India. There is ample room for further expansion in 2025 and beyond, as Apple is still in its early growth phase in the country.”

Record Performance in Domestic Sales and Exports

In the October-December quarter of 2024, Apple entered the list of India’s top five smartphone brands for the first time. In terms of volume, the company’s market share reached nearly 10%. Thanks to the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, Apple set a record in both domestic sales and exports, shipping over 11 million units from India in 2024.

Apple’s Growth Momentum to Continue

Looking ahead, Ram believes Apple’s growth in India will continue at a strong pace, driven by “aggressive retail expansion, targeted marketing strategies, and deeper penetration into the ambitious Indian market.” He also highlighted that both the latest and older iPhone models continue to see strong demand, further solidifying Apple’s position in the country.
